Choose Your Baby a Name: A to Z’s…

What is your name? I have mine and you know yours… Everybody has a name that they are used to…

Have you ever wondered, how to choose your baby a name once you are preparing to become a parent?

You can name them by almost any name…

Go ahead!

What’s Out There?

A:

  • Ava
  • Archie
  • Alice

A to Z…

Parents have too many options, it is unbelievable!

People start stressing about all kinds of things so now mum or dad…

Why let this do the same? Really jump into head first and if you don’t succeed at first try again, try again and later if need be! It might be so hard that you settle for a name just like yours… This is just another, inventive way, in which you can start deciding on a name… If I was named in such a way I would kind of enjoy it, wouldn’t you?

From time immemorial names have been passed down from one family member to another… That is a sure and definite method for finding a child’s name!

They’re gonna enjoy the interaction with the other family member by the same name!

I know it is sort of a personal favourite of mine when someone shares a name with another in this way, it is unique aswell!

B’s and C’s, not forgetting other children’s names like Zara, Zachary and Tiger… Now Tiger Woods is an interesting one…

Tiger Woods…

Eldrick Tont Woods is his original name so we’re going by his nickname nowadays… He hasn’t got a real connection to this name because we all know him as Tiger!

…One of nature’s big cats! How did this ‘big cat’ personality enter our homes and gives us a whole new view on how the game is really played? ‘Woods’ is another name, surname to be exact, with a connection to the game of golf!

Ernie Els, Rocky Marciano and onwards…

…Each and all of these name types are unique to many famous and talented sports players. They’re at the top of their game and prove it year in and year out!

Perhaps some of these names are a bit creative for you, our audience members. They’re definitely not in fashion except it seems with athletes.

Idealising sportsmen and women is common in society today. It has and always will be…

Why not try it and choose something unique for your baby boy or girl?

They really have an opportunity set by you, the parent… No-one can stop you when it comes to making an educated decision and/or someone’s name special… I’m not saying that. All I’m trying to help you with is making an well-informed choice!

I mean it really is up to you:

Zahra; Zaina; Erin; Eve; Kayleigh; Kaitlyn; Gwen; Quinn as you can see I have given you some options!

What stops you from choosing is what scares you!

The Gods…

The various gods have got unique names…

I remember believing I should choose one deity or deva to stick by… That this deity would protect me. We all know each name is really unique!

The gods of Olympus versus those of the Mayan Culture… There were Egyptians who have had names too that are truly creative… Their culture is based on their own large number of gods and every part of their society was part of a well-thought-out plan… They have so many unique names and each one must have sounded unique even to their own culture and people…

Heracles, Perseus, Juno, Zeus, Thor, Odin and more… Some of these ancient cultures are really great at choosing their heroes names!

What about actually taking a name from history and using it for your child…

They’re never gonna know until they’re old enough. How you choose it is up to you… I know I have no problem with my name, do you?

Everybody is unique in the way that they dress, talk and eat…

In fact in every way if you look carefully…

Just consider their gender, their likes and dislikes, their intuitions and talents!

There is no such thing as a wrong decision…

I have never seen a name that I didn’t like. Sure maybe you hate yours but that is something you can never undo… I’m not saying you should just pick any name and there we go, you have a name for your child… They’re not gonna like it when you say how you chose their name unless you choose deliberately and take care.

I know as an Eric I’m just delighted when I remember how many Erics I’ve met in the past!

Your Baby Name Specifically for You

I know my name means peace leader!

How exciting is that? My thoughts run wild with what you can call your child too.

They might even sound similar or exactly the same as family members before you.

Each name is definitely unique and choosing wisely is amazingly difficult… I remember once having the wish that I had a different name… They’re hard to come by…

I would never choose for you but hear me out!

How hard is it to choose your baby’s name on a scale of 1 to 10? I mean really difficult or insanely easy… or somewhere in the middle…

Take your time when choosing your baby a name, time is an important factor…

Summing It All Up for You

Baby names are a big choice for any parent… I know I could never have chosen my own name!

Choosing someone’s name for them would also become a problem so when they’re just a baby it is the only time you can think one up…

They’re not a game to decide on!

Your name might be similar to other people you have met over the years but it is still unique to you! You would never confuse your name with another persons, it just doesn’t happen…

What stops you from giving your baby a unique name? Try it.

If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.

All the best,

Eric Rubin

  1. My mother loved English authors. Consequently, my siblings and I have English first names. Even though our surname is not English in origin. it’s northern European, but is also a Spanish word. This in turns causes us to receive mail advertisements in Spanish. (The marketers are not very good at targeting the correct demographic. So they are wasting their time and money sending us mailings that get tossed.)

    1. Glen it shows you that your last name is but a name too! I wonder who did that? I guess the first two to choose your family name (surnames) must have had to agree otherwise they could not have moved on!!!

Then there are nicknames but I have never heard of northern Europe having a connection with the Spanish language…

Glen it was interesting to hear from you!

      All the best

  2. Hello Eric, this is very true choosing a name for a baby can be a difficult task especially when other people interfere with your decision. My wife is pregnant for 7 months and we started to think about what name should we give to our son. You gave me some good ideas, I will propose it to my wife, I think she will like it.

    1. Hello Daniel!

I know that my parents named me after my grandfather that had already passed away…

You might know your baby’s name at the last minute. Just when he is born…

‘Daniel’ is a good name so just continue the trend. I think a good list of names will help. Just expect to cross almost all of them out until you pounce on one or just a few.

      I wish you luck Daniel…

  3. Looking for a baby name is really enjoyable. In our country, most people would based it from a saint whose feast day fell in the date the baby was born. Other times it would be the parents’ name combination like if the father is Jacob and the mom is Francinina, then the baby’s gina be Janina for the rest of her life! The most common of course is looking through the meaning of names. In certain ethnic groups, babies are named after nature like Kidlat (thunder) because it was thundering during the birthing process. Some babies would be named by their god parents, others countries would think that it’s only the father who has the right to give it because the baby’s gonna be unlucky if other person would name him/her. Your article is really interesting. I enjoyed reading it

    1. It is a part of a parent’s duties to choose a good name for their boy or girl!

The cultural background people are from must make it a little easier to decide on a specific name…

I know of a Janina. She is in fact Indian!

I have heard of using unusual methods in the naming process. The father taking the duty to choose is something I think I have heard of too. You know alot! It reminds me of Bruce Lee with his original name sounding like a girl- Lee Jun Fan! At least I think so… This meant that spirits couldn’t harm him!!!

Thank you for so much thought on the subject ‘B’!

I wish you all the best!!!

  4. Hey Eric,

Having a Greek background, I love ancient Greek names. Not only gods’ names (Zeus, Athena, Appollo, Hera, Artemis, Hermes, Ares, etc), but also greek mythological or historical names(Achilles, Hector, Hercules, Pericles, Alexander, Phillip, Ulysses, Leonidas, and many more). I know that Xerxes was not a god. He was a Persian King for example.

    Thanks!

    Marios
